Consumer Health Foundation: Dedicated to Making a Difference in the Health of the Community

Over the past ten years, CHF has provided approximately $13 million in grants to over 70 community-based groups working throughout the DC metropolitan area to provide equitable access to quality health care for the most vulnerable members of our community with a focus on reducing racial, ethnic and socioeconomic health disparities.  The following are lists of grants approved by the CHF Board of Trustees in 2007.

Strategic Initiative:

This list is divided into three categories: 1) Equitable Access to Quality Health Care, 2) Advocacy and Systems Reform, and 3) Prevention and Wellness.  It is important to note that many, if not most, of the funded projects reflect work within at least two of these arenas.

Responsive:

These grants give us flexibility to respond unanticipated and sometimes even emergency community health needs.  They often reflect innovative and effective approaches to priority health issues and challenges in the DC region.

Community Outreach and Education:

These small grants of $500-$2,500 allow us to operate as a community resource beyond traditional grantmaking.  These grants include support of consumer and community-based health fairs, convenings and conferences.

We will support consumers in their efforts to take control of their own health and participate in all levels of health care decisions. To achieve this, we will integrate consumer voices, interests, and needs into our work.
